Aimee James, PhD, MPH, MA

Research Program & Innovation Incubator Lead

Dr. James’ research focuses on health disparities in cancer prevention and control. With her background in social psychology and health education, her work looks at the connections between social environment, individual beliefs about cancer and prevention, and cancer risk-reducing behaviors.

Her current work involves understanding beliefs and perceptions about colon cancer and colon cancer screening, and the development and evaluation of community-based and clinic-based interventions to promote cancer screening and reduce cancer risk. She often uses qualitative and “mixed method” designs to develop and implement interventions to improve well-being, and works at both the individual and the organizational level.
